Protect value by achieving contract clarity and ensuring compliance

Now in its 9th year the Oil and Gas IQ Advanced Contract Risk Management for Oil & Gas Summit is once more bringing together leading industry experts to share their unique insights and deliver practical expertise to enable best-practice to flow throughout the sector.

This event will strive to delve into the cutting edge topics that many of you have identified as current challenges. This year we’re focusing on international contract negotiation and how US based companies are now looking to develop those markets a lot more intensely than was previously the case. This movement overseas corresponds with the initial moratorium and decline in contracts agreed for the Gulf of Mexico – in light of the Deepwater Horizon tragedy. This has been exacerbated by Texas legislation to limit and ban indemnities in contracts agreed in the state. We will also be covering this serious issue in some depth.

This two-day conference and one-day workshop will not be a procession of speeches one after another. The feedback we’ve received is that you want practical group work, lively discussions and stimulating problem solving challenges and our agenda reflects that.

Our aim is to deliver insights and demonstrate practical expertise that will benefit you in your role on some of these pressing issues:

  • Negotiate contracts globally: As opportunities move beyond the Gulf of Mexico ensure that you have the skill-set and knowledge to handle contracts in areas of the world where different cultures, laws or instability may damage business continuity
  • New legislation: Texas has followed other states in adding a new law to the statute book which may cause difficulties in your contract negotiations – learn about this to ensure compliance and unnecessary and costly litigation
  • Corruption and Bribery: Stay on the right side of the law and understand how you can best comply with legislation in different countries – particularly the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
  • Manage contractors: If one contractor fails what happens to the rest? Learn about how operators can best manage multiple contractors and prevent project collapse through careful planning and mitigation measures in the contract phase of a project
